The case for social work budget increase

Cops don’t prevent crime. When we see a police cruiser speeding down residential streets, they are not going to prevent a crime, they are preventing it from going further. They arrive aggressive, sirens blaring, radios chattering, possible weapons drawn, and shouting. In almost every case they serve to escalate a situation. The fundamental purpose of police is to serve and protect. We are not served anything more than papers, and the protection goes to the to no one.
